Led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers, our program blends play-based exploration with intentional teaching, helping children build the social, emotional, and cognitive skills they need to thrive in Prep and beyond. I'm feeling a little anxious about my child's first day. How can I make this a happy and smooth transition for my child and me?
Our Stay and Play sessions are a great way to introduce your child to the environment. You can explore the space together, meet the Educators, and help your child feel comfortable.
What do I need to bring each day?
Please pack seasonally appropriate clothing, spare clothes, a sun-safe hat, a water bottle, a blanket, and any necessary feeding items. And remember the golden rule of avoiding searching through lost and found: a little label goes a long way!
Are meals provided at Bay Explorers, or do I need to pack food?
Our onsite Chef prepares delicious and nutritious meals daily. Our kitchen is the heart of our service, so pop by and chat with our Chefs whenever you have a moment.
My child is a very picky eater and has an allergy to dairy products. How can I be reassured that my child will be supported at mealtimes?
We work closely with families to accommodate individual dietary needs, including allergies and intolerances. This is managed in a professional, inclusive way that ensures all children feel included and cared for at all times.
I have a question regarding my child's enrolment and CCS. Who do I need to speak to and what's the best way to contact them?
CCS can be complicated. To ease your mind, simply send us the facts in a quick email and our Director will be in touch. We’ll also include helpful links to Services Australia so you feel informed and in control.
My child has just started to bite their sibling at home and I'm worried about them biting other children when in care, what will happen if they do?
Many families worry about this. Biting can be a normal part of child development. We'll work with you to co-develop strategies to support your child and ensure everyone feels supported.
My 4-month baby settles better on their tummy, could you please continue doing this so they have a good sleep?
We are experts in current Safe Sleep practices, and we work with every family to ensure they feel supported in understanding all the “do's and don'ts”. In this case, we'll help baby transition to back sleeping, as this meets Australian safety standards.
My 4-year-old doesn't sleep during the day. How will this be supported whilst in care if there are other children who need to sleep?
As children grow, naptime becomes rest time. Children can rest or engage in quiet activities under the supervision of Educators.
I'm concerned about my child's skin, and comfort, in our hot climate. What do you do about sun safety?
We completely understand how important sun safety is—especially in our Queensland climate. At Bay Explorers, as a SunSmart registered service, we take a proactive approach to keeping children protected and comfortable. Our sun safety practices include shaded outdoor play areas, scheduled indoor breaks during peak UV times, and encouraging children to wear wide-brimmed hats and sun-safe clothing. We also support families in applying sunscreen before arrival and reapplying as needed throughout the day.
My child has been unwell over the weekend and was vomiting last night. Can they still attend care today?
We know how eager children are to return to their friends and routines, but to help keep everyone healthy, we ask that children stay home for at least 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea. This helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures your little one is truly ready for a happy, comfortable day at care. See our links to Staying Healthy in Childcare for more information.
I've had a phone call to come and collect my child as they are unwell. When are they able to return to care?
We know it can be tricky juggling care and recovery, but your child’s health—and the wellbeing of others—comes first. In most cases, children can return to care 24 hours after their last symptoms have passed. For contagious illnesses, we may ask for a clearance from your GP just to be sure it’s safe for everyone. If you’re ever unsure, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help.
Do I need to supply nappies and wipes?
We know your child's comfort and hygiene is very important. To support this, we supply premium wipes and nappies, so getting out the door in the morning, is a little easier for you!
I receive notifications from Kindy Portal about my child, what are these for?
Kindy Portal is our secure online platform designed to keep you connected with your child’s learning journey. Through the portal, you’ll receive updates that may include photos, learning stories, observations, and reflections from the day. It’s a window into your child’s experiences, development, and milestones—helping you stay informed, engaged, and part of their early education adventure.

Life gets busy, and we’re here to support you. If someone new will be picking up your child, please email the Director ahead of time to let us know. My child has an Asthma/Anaphylaxis Plan from our GP. What do I need to do?

This ensures our team is fully prepared to respond quickly and confidently if your child ever needs support. We’ll store everything securely, co-develop a management plan and review it regularly with you to keep it up to date.
