Alicia
Director
Hi, I’m Alicia, a dedicated early childhood Educator since 2011. I started my journey as an external student volunteering hours to complete a Certificate 3. This created so much passion in me for the idea of working with children that I extended my knowledge and accomplished a Diploma in Children’s Services in 2012. Since starting with Bay Explorers in 2013, I have had the opportunity of various roles that have led to my personal and professional growth, and in 2024 I became the Director of our Urangan Service.
I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the growth of many children and families throughout my time with Bay Explorers. I’m proud of my Australian South Islander heritage and cherish the values of family and community.
I believe in fostering a warm and inclusive environment for all children. I value the cohort of people I call my team and what they each bring to the Service every day.
I thoroughly enjoy the energy of being around young children.

Jayme
Kindergarten Teacher
Hello, my name is Jayme, and I’m thrilled to be part of the team at Bay Explorers! I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such dedicated colleagues and to be a part of this vibrant community of families.
I’m married to my wonderful wife, Ellie, and together we’re raising our three children—Casey, Declan, and Abigail—along with our beloved fur baby. Our household is often full of energy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have just completed my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, which underpins my work with the Kindergarten children. This field is where my heart is, and every day I feel grateful to be learning and growing alongside the children I work with.
As the Kindergarten Teacher at Bay Explorers’ Urangan, my passion for making connections and fostering a love of learning in children is what drives me. I’m excited to build strong, positive relationships with all of our families and be a part of each child’s journey.
We reach into the community ensuring we have strong connections in our Kindy Program and always welcome fresh ideas and opportunities.

Hi, my name is Andrzej (Andy). I have worked as a Chef since 2010, and I REALLY enjoy it.
I am originally from Poland, I say originally because I was born there (like all my family) and I lived there for almost the first 20 years of my life but, I always knew that I wanted to see the world. After my graduation I went to France and, after a short time had to come back and do my time with the Army.
When I was 22 I went to Ireland and spent 9 years there. During that time, I travelled and saw quite a bit, I also met up with a very good Australian friend who talked me into coming to Australia to see how great the living is and how beautiful the country is. That was in 2020 and I don’t regret it at all. I’ve met great people, the weather is good, and I can engage in sport activities outside almost every day. Australia is so big and there is a lot still for me to see!
When dropping off your children please pass the kitchen and say hello! I love working alongside children, despite being the fussiest customers I’ve ever had; they have an infectious positive energy that makes every day new, fun and exciting!

Chef
Hello. Originally from Italy and now happily living in Australia, my love for cooking started when I was very young, right alongside my beloved nonna (grandma) in the kitchen. I grew up on a family farm, where I learned the importance of fresh ingredients and the joy of preparing food with care and love.
Inspired by my nonna’s delicious home-cooked meals, I followed my passion and became a Chef. Over the years, I’ve worked in many kitchens, learning how to create tasty, healthy meals that bring people together. I also care deeply about health, fitness, and nutrition, and I always bring that same passion into the meals I prepare.
At Bay Explorers, my goal is to make every child feel at home with warm, nourishing meals that are full of flavour and goodness. Whether it’s a cozy soup, a colourful veggie-packed dish, or a fun, kid-friendly snack, everything I cook is made with love, tradition, and a big smile.

Brooke

Brooke
Hi, my name is Brooke. I hold a Diploma in Early Years Education and Care and have been working with children since 2016. I began my journey in the outside school hours care sector, working with school-aged children. In 2019, I discovered my true passion lies in early childhood education, and I have been dedicated to the early years’ profession ever since.
I’m married and a proud mum of two young children, which has further enriched my understanding and appreciation of early childhood development.
I’m thrilled to be joining the Bay Explorers’ team and am looking forward to building strong, positive relationships with my colleagues, the children in our care, and their families.

Carolyn

Carolyn
My name is Carolyn, and I have a long history in early childhood, having been in the profession since leaving high school. I attained my Certificate III in Children’s Services and owned and operated my own family day care business for over 20 years. During this time, I went on to complete my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
I gained employment with Bay Explorers after my family and I moved to Hervey Bay and have had various roles within the Service including Sustainability Officer and Workplace Health and Safety Officer.
I am an animal lover and have 2 dogs, a cat, 20 chickens, 10 ducks and 11 geese! In my spare time, I love to garden and have a huge vegetable garden and flower beds aplenty at home. I also love to go fishing when I have spare time.
I believe children learn from being supported to be active participants in their own learning and their environment. Please be sure to say hello if you see me around!

Charne

Charne
Hi, my name is Charne and I hold a Diploma in Children’s Services. Since starting my journey as an Educator in 2017, I have experience working with all age groups in the early years.
I have in recent years relocated from Brisbane to Hervey Bay with my partner to start our family, and I am now a proud mum to Sonny.
I love watching children learn through play and I’m excited to continue learning, developing and building relationships within the Bay Explorers’ community.

Danielle

Danielle
Hi, my name is Dani and I’m a proud Aboriginal woman with my mob stretching across Queensland and New South Wales. My mum’s mob is Mardigan, and my dad’s mob is Barkindji, and both sides of my family have had a strong influence on who I am. My mum, Donna, and my sister, Jessica, are the only family I have here, and we share our home with a bunch of feather babies. My dad’s always out near Miles, driving the big rigs, but even though he’s always on the road, he’s still a big part of my life.
I’ve always had a passion for looking after children, listening to their voices, and helping shape their journeys as they grow. This connection to my mob and family values is something I carry with me every day.
I’ve been part of the Bay Explorers family since 2016, and it’s been an absolute ripper of a journey from the start. I began as a school-based student, worked hard to get my Certificate III, and now I’m proud to hold my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. Over the years, I’ve worked with children of all ages, and no two days are ever the same (which is a good thing because who wants boring?). Whether it’s glitter explosions or finger-painting chaos, I’ve loved every second!
As a Lead Educator, I’m all about creating a safe, fun, and nurturing space where every child can feel like they can take on the world. I believe every child is unique, creative, and has their own voice; sometimes quiet, sometimes loud, and sometimes really loud and I love helping them grow and shine in their own special way.
I’m lucky to work with an amazing team who inspire me every day, and I can’t wait to build strong connections with the families and children in our community. Let’s create unforgettable memories full of learning, laughter, and, of course, plenty of glitter!

Hana

Hana
Hello! My name is Hana. I earned my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care in 2020, which marked a significant milestone in my journey to pursue my passion for education. My love for working with children has been a guiding force in my life since becoming a mother.
I find immense joy in supporting young learners as they develop their skills and confidence. Witnessing their growth and achievements, whether it’s mastering new concepts or expressing their creativity, is an absolute pleasure.
It is incredibly rewarding to play a part in children’s learning journeys and to help them grow.

Jade

Jade
Hi, I’m Jade! I have a teenage son, Cooper and have been working in the early childhood profession for over 2 decades … longer than he has been alive!
I’ve worked in various roles, from Assistant to Lead Educator, with children of all ages. I’m passionate about supporting children’s learning and development and I’m committed to building warm relationships with children, parents, and Educators at Bay Explorers.
I love providing children with opportunities to deepen their understanding and further their development. There is nothing quite like seeing children laugh and smile.
I am fortunate enough to work with an incredible team of Educators and can’t wait to support you, your child and all of their needs.

Jasmine

Jasmine
My name is Jasmine and I have been working with children since 2018 when I started my early childhood career in Sydney. In 2019, I moved to Hervey Bay and started my journey with Bay Explorers and have loved every minute!
I chose this as my career path as I absolutely love the learning and development that happens in the early years of a child’s life and love to be able to say I have helped in the growth and development of so many children.
A little bit about me … I am a puzzle person and love sitting down at the end of the day to do a puzzle and switch off after caring for children. I am raising my son, Carter, which is so much fun! Watching him grow and learn every single day is a blessing! Together, we love to go to the playground and have fun at home playing outside, kicking the ball, running around and enjoying lots of water play!

Kara

Kara
Hi, my name is Kara. I’ve been in the childcare profession since 2009 with some gaps due to raising my daughter who is now 14. Although I’ve had different work experience over the years, I always find myself coming back to Childcare as it is my passion.
I love watching children learn through play. I was born in Hervey bay and love living here. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and baking and watching cricket. Please say hi whenever you’re in the Service.

Keely

Keely
Hi, I’m Keely. I am currently studying my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. I have four siblings and have spent my life showing care to them and guiding them through life’s challenges which has allowed me the opportunity to thrive in this ECEC setting.
I’m an active person who loves spending time outdoors in my spare time.
My passion for early childhood allows me to be hands on with the children in my care and interact with them through all types of physical activity.
I’m excited to be a part of the Bay Explorers’ team and contribute to the learning journey of young children while developing strong partnerships with families.

Kelly

Kelly
Hi families, my name is Kelly! I joined Bay Explorers in June 2022 after moving from the Gold Coast, which was my home for 30 years. Hervey Bay offers a much quieter lifestyle, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
I began my career in early childhood when my now older children, were much younger, and have since worked with children of all ages. I love observing children’s behaviours and interactions with their peers whilst being a part of their development.
In my role, I prioritise helping children to build their sense of confidence and wellbeing. Seeing the smiles and a sense of accomplishment on their little faces is my reason for doing this role.
I am a Diploma qualified Educator and you will find me assisting in all the rooms within Bay Explorers.
My family and I are loving Hervey Bay’s relaxed lifestyle and you will often find me pounding the pavement with regular walks along the beautiful esplanade or out in our boat enjoying the beaches and fishing with my youngest son and husband.

Kerrie

Kerrie
Hey, I’m Kerrie! I started in early childhood in July 2022 after being a Teacher’s Aide within a school setting. I completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and began my career with Bay Explorers in 2024.
On the weekend I like to walk along the beach and enjoy collecting shells and other treasures to bring in to show the children.
My favourite thing about working with children is watching them meet their goals and milestones with my help. The biggest difference between working alongside children from birth to 5 in an early childhood setting and being a teacher aide within a school, is the atmosphere at Bay Explorers is centred around nurturing children in a really loving and gentle way.

Kirralee

Kirralee
Hi, my name is Kirralee and I began my journey with Bay Explorers in 2023 after entering the profession in 2021. I currently hold my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and am open to furthering my studies.
I enjoy spending time with my family on the weekends and often go camping and explore the Fraser Coast. I was born in Brisbane and have been visiting Hervey Bay all my life to spend time with family and finally moved here in 2023. I have 3 siblings, 2 brothers and a sister and we are all completely obsessed with AFL and the Brisbane Lions.
I love creating relationships with families at Bay Explorers and look forward to getting to know you and your children even better throughout our time together.

Kyella

Kyella
Hi, my name is Kyella. I am currently studying in my final year of school and working towards my Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care as a school-based trainee.
I enjoy spending my time at the beach and am passionate about Karate. I have always had an interest in Early Childhood as I have looked after my younger twin brothers and younger cousins over the years.
Having completed my work experience at Bay Explorers’ Urangan at the end of 2023, I was so excited to get the opportunity to work as a school-based trainee. After being a part of the Bay Explorers team since 2024, I have loved watching all the children learn and grow throughout this time.
I cannot wait to see what the future holds for my journey and the continuous journey of the children. I feel privileged to be a part of the children’s education while working alongside a supportive and amazing team.

Kylie

Kylie
Hi, my name is Kylie and I have been working in the childcare industry since I was 15 years old. I started out doing work experience as a Teacher’s Aide at primary schools then got my first job as a childcare Educator at 16 and stayed at that centre for 12 years, working within many roles from Assistant to Lead Educator to then Assistant Director.
I then began my journey here at Bay Explorers in 2017 and within this time had my beautiful daughter Alayna in 2020 and was fortunate enough to take a pause for a moment to soak up being a stay-at-home mum. During this time my family and I moved away to the town of 1770 where my husband and I were given the opportunity to step away from our normal careers and really take a leap of faith, where we took on the roles of managers and caretakers of a popular and very busy beachfront camping ground.
Although this was a great experience, our home in Hervey Bay was always calling us bac. Nurturing and teaching little people, was always where I was meant to be. I was welcomed back to the Bay Explorers’ family with arms wide open and have loved being back ever since, where my daughter is now thriving in the Kindy room and it was like I had never left.

Melissa

Melissa
Hi, I’m Melissa! My husband and I have 4 children, and in 2007, we had the pleasure of extending our family further when our 2 nephews joined our family permanently. We have always enjoyed getting away to spend as much quality time together as we can.
My career started in Early Childhood Education and Care in 1996, but in 2005, I changed my career path to healthcare, where I remained until re-entering early childhood at Bay Explorers in 2024.
I am currently in the process of achieving my Certificate III and have loved building new relationships and connections within the Bay Explorers’ community. I can’t wait to continue fostering these relationships and grow and learn alongside your children.

Samantha

Samantha
Hi there, my name is Samantha. I have been in childcare since 2010. I had been working in the events and hospitality industry previously. Seeing people having a good time brings me joy and fulfilment. The switch to childcare was wonderful; I get to contribute to the lives of children and their families, whilst building connections and giving service to our community.
I like that no two days are ever the same and there is plenty of variety in our roles. Creativity is where I thrive, and I enjoy all sorts of art experiences. I believe the first five years of life are so important to foster a sense of self, connection, and a love of learning. When we give children confidence in themselves, they can achieve great things.
I enjoy travelling, reading, and cooking, spending time with family and close friends, and quiet nights in.

I have a large family that includes 4 younger sisters and 4 more foster siblings! This is where my love for working alongside children has come from, having grown up with younger children around me and helping my mum with all of them as they grew.
In my spare time, I enjoy engaging in any sort of creative experience. Arts and crafts is a huge love and passion of mine and I can’t wait to be able to apply this creative flare to my daily tasks at Bay Explorers.

I currently hold a Certificate III in Children’s Services and am looking forward to furthering my studies in the future to be able to better provide children with the opportunity to flourish.
I love educating children and being part of a fantastic team, like Bay Explorers. I enjoy being able to nurture and care for children and absolutely love watching them develop and grow through play and learning.
I have two children of my own who keep me busy on the weekends, and we are often out and about exploring local parks and playscapes. Having children of my own has given me a better insight into how to approach and create meaningful relationships with children and their families.

Hi, my name is Tash and I am currently studying to achieve my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. While I am new to the profession, I am super excited to be part of Bay Explorers and learn and grow alongside an incredibly supportive team!
I love everything sports related and spend my spare time on and around the netball courts! I have a younger brother who is 12 years younger than me and he always keeps me on my toes, pushing me to be the best version of myself and he was ultimately what kick-started my drive and passion for early childhood.
